Would-be carjacking thwarted by father in Largo

A would-be carjacker tried to steal a car outside a Largo 7-Eleven, but a father, whose 16-year-old was still in the car, wouldn't have any of it.

The carjacking suspect is seen on surveillance video inside the store on Roosevelt Blvd. around 12:25 a.m. Oct. 8.

He then walks out to the Kia sedan parked out front, which was still running with the 16-year-old inside, and gets into the driver's side. That's when the father is seen running out of the store and opening up the driver's side, yanking the suspect out and yelling at him.

The suspect fled, but Largo police are still searching for him.

Anyone with information is urged to contact Det. Brendan Arlington at 727-:587-6730. Anyone who wishes to remain anonymous can call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-873-TIPS.
